Schisandra berries are full of flavor and actually have five of the flavor profiles in the one berry; bitter, spicy, sour, salty, and sweet are all packed into this small red berry.

Schisandra is native to northern and northeastern China and the far eastern of Russia. It can be found on a woody branch in a forest with sunlight on the banks a brook or stream.

It was used in ancient times and consumed daily to help as an anti-aging herb and promote longevity. It’s shown to improve the kidney, lung, and liver function. Schisandra has been shown to not only support the liver but help detoxify and bind to the endogenous and exogenous waste and toxins.
